Beyond the Trip: Setting New Photography Goals for 2026

I took up photography with an ASP-C camera in autumn 2023 because I wanted “better” photos of my upcoming trip to Thailand than my small smartphone camera would have given me.

Little did I know that photography is more than just snapping a few shots. It’s far more than just taking random pictures. Looking back at my photos today, it shows.

I’ve come to realised that, for me, photography is about sharing how I perceive the world and what made me capture the moment or feeling.

Over the course of two years, I captured several thousand photographs, primarily while traveling. As my travel slowed, so did my photography, and I felt my progress in image quality begin to stall.

To change that, I set myself photography goals for this year—aimed at becoming more focused on developing my skills and less reliant on traveling.

These challenges are centered on improving my technical skills, refining my visual storytelling, and developing a more focused approach to specific themes.

Part of the goal is to share my progress and learnings on this website throughout the upcoming year, intending to become more reflective before, during and after a shoot.
